Today I took the day off to spend some time with Stefanos. I only took 1 day off this entire summer! Sometimes you just gotta do that. These days with Stefanos are my favorite.
I started my morning by soaking a cup of Brazil nuts to make nut milk tomorrow.
I pretended I was in India and bought street-side coconut water.
We met for an outdoor hipster brunch in Silverlake.
In the middle of brunch, a man who was singing on the sidewalk came to our table and said, “I’m going to the record company and gonna make millions to help the poor!”
I responded, “Do it!”
He looked at Stefanos while pointing to me and exclaimed, “Take her to the photo shoot!”
The people at the other tables, including us, all erupted into laughter.
We then went to a used book-store where I bought “The Red Tent,” which is about Dinah, the daughter of Jacob from the New Testament. My friend Kathryn told me about this book years ago, and I am excited to finally read it.
We got a surprise visit from Chewy and Maggie, Stefanos’ neighbors.

It was one of those days where I just want to listen to this song on repeat. By the way, this is my friend, Camelia singing. She sings this song better than the original singer! I could literally listen to her singing this song ALL day!
